The 2024/25 school year is behind us – and thanks to all of you in our community, outdoor learning has taken another big leap forward. You are the real change-makers – teachers, educators, parents, and everyone who takes children outside and shows them the beauty of learning in nature. Let’s look back at what we have accomplished together.
Do you know what’s most amazing about learning outdoors?
It’s the huge community of passionate teachers and parents who share the same vision: to make outdoor learning a natural part of school education.
And our community keeps growing:
These figures aren’t just statistics – they represent thousands of children experiencing education differently because of you. They represent hours spent outdoors instead of at desks. They represent moments of discovery that would never have happened within four walls.
One of the pillars of our program is providing teachers with practical, ready-to-use resources so they know exactly how to approach outdoor learning:
Personal meetings and sharing experiences are irreplaceable. During the past year, we organized:
What’s even better than an enthusiastic teacher embracing outdoor learning? A whole school doing it together! That’s the goal of our Outdoor Learning Academy. We guide entire teaching teams through the process of introducing outdoor education – from the first steps to making it a permanent part of their school curriculum. The first year of the Academy was a huge success!
We are delighted that a few schools from abroad also joined the Academy and that their feedback was very positive. Jana Smith from the Czech & Slovak School Bristol highlighted that the program connected their teachers, gave structure to their curriculum, and provided a wide range of ready-to-use activities in one place, saving money on teaching materials and supporting the training of new staff and volunteers.
Although most of the materials in the Academy are currently only available in Czech, Lessons in Grass is not being left out! We look forward to expanding our range of materials with proven resources that have already been tested in Czech schools.
We’re thrilled to see that the outdoor learning principles work everywhere – and that Czech inspiration has something to offer abroad. This school year, we led:
And there’s more to come – we have two additional courses prepared for Italian teachers before the end of the year.
Being outside isn’t just about knowledge – it’s also about physical and mental health. This year, we focused strongly on connecting outdoor learning with wellbeing.
We created unique resources to help children and teachers care about themselves and draw strength from nature:
We look forward to the new school year, which will bring:
None of this would be possible without our partners – the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Prague City Hall, our partner NGOs and companies that support us and finally, TEREZA Educational Center, where Lessons in Grass belong.
But our biggest thanks go to you – teachers, educators, parents, and everyone who takes children outside. Your enthusiasm, courage to try new things, and the joy you bring to children are the most valuable things we have.
We look forward to another school year full of outdoor adventures!
